Run weekend sales, holiday discounts, or “buy and get more data” offers on your packages. Guests do not enter a promo code — when a promotion is active and matches a package, the Captive Portal / guest buy page (and PPPoE customer portal) show the deal automatically and checkout uses it.
In plain language
A promotion is a time window on existing Hotspot or PPPoE packages: either a price cut (% or fixed amount) or a data bonus (extra GB while the customer still pays full price). There is no “extra validity days” promo type — package time limits stay as set on the package.
Not the same as Free Access (everyone free, no login), Outage Compensation (credit after downtime), or SMS marketing campaigns.
Where to find it
- Hotspot: Hotspot → Promotions — needs package permissions (
viewPackages; create/edit/delete use the matching package permissions). - PPPoE: PPPoE → Promotions — same idea with PPPoE package permissions.
- Create packages first under Package Management / PPPoE Packages — promotions apply to those plans.
Offer types
| Type | What the customer gets |
|---|
| % Percentage | Pays less (e.g. 20% off). Data unchanged. |
| $ Fixed Amount | Pays less by a fixed amount (entered in your org currency; applied in USD internally). Data unchanged. |
| Data bonus | Pays full package price; gets extra data (% or fixed GB). e.g. 100% extra = double the package data. |
How to create (Hotspot)
- Open Hotspot → Promotions → Create promotion.
- Base Plan — Apply to all hotspot packages, or select specific ones.
- Promotion Details — Name, optional Badge Text (shown on package cards), Description.
- Schedule — Start and End date/time. Days of week (Sun–Sat). Days are evaluated in UTC.
- Discount Configuration — Percentage, Fixed Amount, or Data bonus (% extra or fixed extra data).
- Save. New promotions start Active. Use Activate / Deactivate on the list to pause without deleting.
List statuses: Active, Scheduled, Ended, or Paused. Discount column shows e.g. “10% off”, “5 USD off”, “+50% data”, “+2 GB data”.
PPPoE promotions
Same offer types and schedule rules under PPPoE → Promotions. Differences:
- Targets PPPoE packages only (all or selected).
- Optional Time window (e.g. 22:00–06:00) — display only on the customer portal (“Valid: …”). It does not yet enforce night-only access on the router.
- Customer portal and PPPoE online checkout use the discounted price / boosted data the same way Hotspot guest buy does.
How guests get the promo
No code to type. A package matches when the promo is active, now is inside the date range, today's UTC weekday is allowed, and the package is included (or apply-to-all).
- Buy UI shows badge, strike-through original price (price promos), boosted data with original struck (data promos), and “Ends in N days” when applicable.
- Checkout charges the promo price (for price offers) and writes the correct data limit on the voucher / PPPoE assignment (including data bonus).
- If several promos match: price beats data; among price, lowest final price wins; among data-only, highest effective data wins. Only one winner — no stacking.
Important caveats
- Data bonus caps: % extra max 100% (up to 2× package data); fixed add capped at +50 GB. Unlimited / no-data packages ignore data promos.
- Price promos never change data. Data promos never discount the price.
- Days of week use UTC — near midnight, “weekend only” can shift vs your local timezone.
- Custom / matrix bundles use matrix pricing; package data promo is not stacked on custom data.
- Loyalty discounts (if enabled) can beat a promo price when better; badge may prefer the loyalty label.
- Outage Compensation credits Hotspot data from the voucher's limit — including any promo bonus already on that voucher.
